Our marketing & advertising team recently attended the biggest USA digital Marketing convention in Las Vegas, in search of new ideas and better business practices to bring back to our independent pharmacy network partners.

The result has helped in the development and putting the final touches to a new independent pharmacy project called One-Xtra.

Our objective was simple, create a Digital Finger that points pharmacist’s and their sales associates to adding one or more additional products to every sale, creating total sales lift or increased turnover of 12% - 18%!

How can any pharmacist avoid the responsibility of adding One More item to every customers basket, not only as a better service to keep that customer coming back, but to improve the whole shopping experience, by showing your customers how much you appreciate and care about them?

Of course one has to face the realities of training staff and more important, tracking their progress and constantly nudging them to achieving continuity in their efforts to ADD ONE more sale to every basket.

An interesting fact is that there is a 74% chance that customers will make at least two to five spontaneous purchases during a visit to their local pharmacy however this does not just happen without effort and input from the staff.

Each pharmacy has different needs.
For some it is the need to train staff
to add the additional product to the sale, while others have demographic challenges.

However the one common factor for all independent pharmacies is the ability to sell at least one more product with every sale from the dispensary through to the front cash register.

The One-Xtra is a “digital finger” that points out the opportunity to make the additional sale on the screen, suggesting a possible product match.

If for example, you are busy in the dispensary with a diabetic preparation, the One-Xtra will immediately point (with its “Digital finger”) your patient to a sugar test in your clinic, and may suggest the use of Diabon (a Multi Vitamin.)

By reminding you of the potential opportunity One-Xtra in fact guides you to offering better patient attention and reminds you to offer an additional product or service and in doing so builds good customer relationships.

If the match does not fit your criteria (such as product or ethical criteria) no problem, One-Xtras’ job is to remind you of the opportunity. Your job and your sales associate’s responsibility is to help the customer purchase an additional product. OneXtra is being launched in our dispensing system over the next few weeks.
